World Prematurity Day focuses on preterm birth and its consequences throughout the world. In Germany, around 60,000 children are born prematurely every year. Accordingly, one in ten newborns is a premature baby. This makes premature babies the largest group of pediatric patients in Germany. Nevertheless, problems and risks for the future development of these children are not adequately recognized. Therefore, on November 17, parents’ representatives throughout Europe, Africa, America and Australia draw attention to the needs of premature babies and their families.<\/p>\n
